11:10:11 – Fair Fuel’s 100,000 signatures

Over 100,000 people have now backed the Fair Fuel UK’s campaign against the spiralling cost of fuel. Fair Fuel UK was set up by Peter Carroll the man behind the Ghurkha Justice Campaign, as the group have collected over 100,000 signatures on the government’s e-petition site there must now be a parliamentary debate.

A.I.D. Fuel Card Services have been backing the campaign from early on, along with influential bodies the RAC, FTA and the RHA to name but a few.

The Fair Fuel UK campaign is urging the government to scrap the planned 4p fuel duty increase scheduled for January and August 2012 and to find a means to stabilise pump prices.

The campaigners braved the Tory Party conference in Manchester on Monday to highlight the issue, Mr Carroll himself a former haulier stated “We went to the conference because this issue is crucial. In the end, the only people who can solve the fuel price issue are the MP’s.”

Passing the 100,000 mark is really historic because this initiative from the government has only been going about 10 weeks and we managed to get to the 100,000 mark in about eight weeks.”

“The price of petrol and diesel is the issue, which is hurting every family and every business every time they fill up their tank. My belief is that it is vital for politicians to listen to what’s actually hurting the people on the ground.”
