How To Maintain Your AdBlue Storage Tank

Tips For Maintaining AdBlue Storage Tank

If you have purchased or loaned an AdBlue tank to store bulk quantities of the exhaust fluid for your Euro 4, 5 or 6 vehicles, you’ll understand that it is a fluid that can become contaminated easily. We’ve put together a few handy tips on how to maintain your tank to get the most out of your AdBlue.

Purchase Good Quality AdBlue - Filling your tank with AdBlue from a reputable supplier of ISO 22241 standard AdBlue ensures that it will not damage the SCR catalyst in the vehicle it is put into - which can be extremely costly to repair.

Keep Your Tank Secure - Take the necessary precautions including telemetrics and tank locks to ensure your AdBlue is not stolen or at risk of contamination. It is also a good idea to keep the tank itself in a cool, well ventilated area as AdBlue is ideally stored between 0°c and 30°c to ensure it reaches full shelf life of up to 18 months.

Check Your Tank - Look for visual signs of issues with your tank including cracks and bulges that could lead to costly repairs.  It is also a great idea to check the quality of the AdBlue inside as bugs are normally visible to the naked eye and have this tested by professionals at regular intervals to prevent contamination.
